Two days ago I took care of my financial stuff and stopped my mail beginning my departure date.  Today, I (finally) got all of the travel size paraphernalia out of the sacks they were in and sorted things throughout my living room.  I found my electrical converter, but I have apparently lost the adaptors, so I guess I'm making a trip to Target sometime this afternoon.  Unfortunately, I haven't even brought my clothing into the fray, yet, and my living room looks like a tornado hit it.  I've been washing all of the stuff I want to take with me that I've worn since I last did laundry, as well as my new bathing suit.  I'm washing my shoes at the moment.  I'm planning to Scotchgard them, as well as my light trenchcoat, later.  Apparently it rains a lot in Scotland.  ;)

I have promised myself this trip that I am going to write at least a couple of post cards, so I've been gathering addresses for that.  I've programmed the phone numbers of the people I plan to keep in touch with and the people who might call/text me over the next month in my international cell phone.  Although I'm really looking forward to this trip (which I have been trying to go on for nearly two years), I will sincerely miss the people I love at home.  The last time I went abroad, I didn't have much of a social life.  I had very few close friends, and those I did I certainly didn't see terribly often.  Now, I'm leaving behind several close friends, not to mention ill family members, that I see pretty much daily.

Pretty much all there is left to do is pack.  I might post my packing list here later, for those of you who will be studying abroad soon yourselves.  It might prove helpful.  Through lots of reading and a little practice, I'm a fairly skilled packer.  That said, my list may be more helpful to the guys because...well...I'm a very low maintenaince woman.  I will not take makeup, a hairdryer, hair straightener, hairspray, or anything of the like.  It's a waste of space, and nobody cares what you look like after you've been riding on an airplane/train/bus/etc all day.  XD
