Faded glory

We are at last home after a fantastic 5 weeks.

Dubai turned out to be a real find. Quite an extraordinary place. Ultra modern but still very much Arab and Muslim. Ramadan started a couple of days before we arrived so this made for some minor inconvenience only. We can only imagine how the place jumps during normal times. The development is out of this world; it makes Surfers Paradise look like Bourke. The quantity and quality of office towers, hotels, resorts and shopping malls is mind blowing.

Even though the temperatures sit around 40 degrees for most of the year, the air is crystal clear and quite pleasant if your in the shade (no humidity). We spent day one in the shops and did a half day tour of the city in the afternoon. The second day we spent at a beach report and later that night at the souks shopping. All in all, a great stopover; can't wait to go again.

The trip back was uneventful and we landed this morning. I'll load some photos of Venice and Dubai today.
