Can he face the nation manfully?
Can he hide the awful truth?
Off to Wisconsin for snow to tread on!
A big New Year's hockey game here in the snow,
But he reserved for a week in Wisconsin,
Why drive 1000 miles to snow shoe in those woods?
Now snow here is only dirty hulks, we must drive on.
Cross country skis ready, selection of waxes bagged
Snow shoes cleaned, bindings set for new boots,
Thin mitts, heavy mitts, neck-ups, Bergelene undies,
Shells, parkas, everything ready for wearing on.
Can our muscles be ready after Holiday gorging?
Can we limber up from of sedentary weeks?
Can we face Wisconsin cold and snow deep?
Is there muscle tone, are we ready to carry on?
Eagle River is the destination,
Trees for Tomorrow is the site,
Miles of snowy forest is the hope,
Hills and trails with snow on.
Elderhostelers will be companions,
Midwesterners will lead us out,
Packers fans looking for New Yorkers,
Expecting to lay their scorn on.
