Anyways, my host mom is now snoring quietly next to me and I think that is my cue to leave. I will update again soon though to this snazzy little web site. Thanks Nina for hooking me up.
Hasta Luego! Chau!
I am just sittin in bed with my lovely host mom Margarita. She's falling asleep next to me but doesn't seem to mind that I am still on the computer stealing wireless internet from our dead neighbor Carlos. Life is going pretty smoothly aside from the fact that my mind is functioning like it is a dish of pirotos (beans) and I have bastante difficulty speaking or writing in either Spanish or English. Speaking in either of those languages wouldn't help me too much here anyways considering the fact that Chilenos frown upon English speaking gringos (or laugh at us anyways) and speak amongst themselves a completely different language. Based primarily on the leftovers of the Spanish language left from the conquistadors several hundred years ago, the language Chileans speak is a mixture of parts of those words with there own slang that has been around for nearly that long. At my dad's libreria (bookstore) they even sell this book called How to Survive in the Chilean Jungle which is chock full of slang that they don't expect any gringo to ever have learned in school. I am catching on though, slowly but surely. I am also taking Advanced Grammar for extranjeros which should help me even though I have yet to discover any reasons why UPS is granting me any credit for taking it.
