Monday January 9 was a long drive. We had hoped to get to Pensacola but decided that was too far. So, we headed south of Tallahassee (Florida's capital) to the 'forgotten coast' part of the Pan Handle.

Around afternoon tea time we arrived in Appalachicola; I liked the feel immediately and said 'let's stop for afternoon tea'. Barbara and I had coffee while Michael wandered around. We talked with a local who told us some things to see but along the way we noticed one of the tires was going flat. Michael left us at Piggly Wiggley's grocery store to get the tire repaired. We bought some bananas and walked down the street to find Michael when we noticed Coombs House Inn, a 100 year old home bed & breakfast. I went in for a look and we decided to stay. We enjoyed a beautiful home, great seafood at the local Seafood Grill Restaurant and a scrumptious breakfast - ummm - what a great stop.

That morning I arose early and walked around town for an hour and took lots of photos of the sunrise, old homes, modern homes, fishing boats, etc. Here are some of them. I think Appalachicola is a place I could live in, subject to surviving hurricanes!
