A later start today as we let Carole have a sleep in as she has to work her 12 hour shift tonight commencing at 7pm. So after breakfast Yoann took us for a walk around a beautiful lake in a nearby village. Then we set off for St Malo via Rennes to drop Carole's car off at the hospital where she works.
We arrived in St Malo at lunch time and they took us to an amazing (think I have used that word often lately) little cafe off the tourist drag (and St Malo exists on tourism.) It was called l'Art Caddy and is a well kept secret. Only 20 seats and if the owner doesn't like the 'look' of you she will put the closed sign on the door! Fortunately Carole and Yoann had been there before and had booked a table for us
We then walked around the wall of the old city of St Malo before they dropped us at our next Couchsurfing host, Michel. It was so sad to say goodbye as we have had such a lovely time with you both and with your families. Thank you so much for your generous hospitality once again. We will miss you.
Michel then showed us around St Malo for about 3 hours, mostly walking. But we did make one stop along the way for 'beer o'clock' on the top floor of a hotel overlooking the beach at St Malo. The views from here were fantastic including the St Malo version of aquarobics! Walking through the water in wet suits!!!
Back to Michel's home about 8pm to start writing this entry while he prepared dinner. We had a lovely bowl of soup followed by the traditional Brittany dish - galette. This time filled with smoked salmon and egg with a little bit of bacon and cheese for extra flavouring. It was delicious. We declined dessert tonight (wonder why?).
Michel is a retired teacher who is a keen golfer. He joined Couchsurfing 2 years ago and we are his 104th visitors!!! St Malo is a popular destination and Michel a generous host.
