Well today the sun was shining and the birds singing!!!!! Think spring/summer may have arrived in the Loire Valley. Even though today's ride was the longest it turned out to be probably the most enjoyable ride so far. The day started with a visit to the local Saturday morning markets in Loches. They were fantastic - sure beat the local markets at home! There was fresh produce of all sorts along with clothing and accessories. (So Baillie you wanted some photos of food well here they are today!)
The cyclists set off from the markets about 9.30 am and headed for their first stop - morning tea at the little village of Courcey. After a 30 min stop they then set off for Montbazon for a picnic lunch (with produce from this mornings market) on the banks of the Indra River. Then it was off on the final leg to Azay-le-Rideau arriving about 3.30 pm. A total of 58kms.
The 'support crew' spent an extra hour in the markets  (?????)  before meeting up with them for morning tea and lunch. We arrived at the hotel about 2pm to do some washing and take advantage of the fine weather. Our hotel is in the centre of town quite close to the Chateau which we plan to visit tomorrow along with another at Villandry about 10kms away.
We are here for 2 nights so some of the cyclists are planning a well earned rest day. Col's bike is playing up a bit so is hoping to get a replacement on Monday before the next long ride to Chinon.
Hope you enjoy today's photos.
Carl - the Eurobug gear looks fantastic -everyone loves it -planning to get a group photo on Monday morning now that the weather has improved. Thanks once again from everyone for your efforts in designing this gear.
Lights out early tonight - Col is already asleep.
