Sliding down mountains
Entry 32 of 33 | show all | print this entry |
Tried to ski, went for a long weekend to St Anton, which was populated by hoardes of marauding males - hello!
Became an expert apres skiing, it takes a lot of practice and skill to down a jager shot from a bottle being held 20 cms above your open mouth without spilling a drop or letting the thick liquer role down your check or chin. And more importantly to keep going and spend your whole night talking to Danish, Swedes, German, Austrian and Irish dudes! Cracking time had by all, including Ange, who managed on that said night to lose her snowboard. The rest of us lost gloves, hats, googles which over the course of the next day kept appearing at various strategic stages on the mountain.
My skiing went from appalling and "I'm not doing this again!" to "Wow I'm skiing!" it was a bit of a roller coaster, but I did ski and traverse down a mountain albeit a small one! My arse was black and blue and my legs and stomach ached and walking down stairs was a painful experience for about a week, but I am definitely going next year! Even if it is just for the apres skiing!
