Today was the last day of school. Wow. It's over and it's the end of a good thing, but I am happy.

I did a dinner party tonight with my roommate Dallana and invited two of my students from the school, their families, and Sonia, the awesome Spanish and Costan Rican history teacher that I've been working with. During the dinner, my students Savannah and Olivia randomly went into my room and stayed for a good half hour. I thought that they had grown tired of listening to the grown-ups talk and had gone to my room to play games, but when I went into my room later tonight, I found, tucked away in one of CD cases, the prettiest card that anyone has ever given me. It was from the two of them! When I read the message inside, I almost cried.

The part that impressed me most was that they had made this card for me and had hidden it, knowing that I would find it only after they had left. They knew that they would probably never see me again, but they did it anyway--they wanted to give me this gift. And so in tough times to come, I will remember this night; I will remember the person that I have been in Costa Rica; and this card will keep me safe.
