We are here at the Bertchesgaden Resort in the Bavarian Mountains along the German-Austrian border. The landscape is beautiful. The resort we are in is extremely fancy and, admittedly, a bit out of our league. They didnīt appreciate my cannonball into the heated indoor pool or the fact that we bought groceries and skipped the expensive food and beverageJ But we don't care we have an awesome view and we get to wear cool robes to the spa. (Jeanne hates them)

We hiked through the Magic Forest and had a picnic there yesterday (yes that is it's real name). The water hear is the clearest freshwater I have ever seen. It is bright blue and you can see to the bottom of the rivers and lakes. The rocks and gravel are white. The guidebook said you can safely drink directly from the lake because the water is so clean but we didn't try.

We also toured the salt mines and wore funky outfits (they make you wear them). There were cool slides and underground trains and salt lakes. It was interesting to see where our table salt comes from. Worth the couple of hours. I licked the walls and thez tasted like salt!

Today we went to the Eagle's Nest Peak and enjoyed a panoramic view of the Bavarian Mountains. This peak is one of the highest in the area. A building was constructed at the top of the peak for Hitlers 50th birthday and was not destrozed in the war. We discovered that this area was one of Hitlers favorite places and was where he wrote the second part of Mein Kampf. There were patches of snow on the trail but it wasn't cold. The views were very nice- I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

We just returned from a WWII bunker used by the Nazi's. I am burnt out WWII stuff but it was cool to walk around in the bunker. The network of hallways and rooms was massive. It was also very cold.

Tonight we are going to our favorite Bavarian Restaurant. This will be our third night there in a row, and for good reason. The food and the view is excellent.

Tomorrow, we are off to Munich. We will post again from there.

Hope everyone is doing well back home,

Bobby and Jeanne
