After a short 4 hour overnight bus ride to Prague (that involved getting a taxi to the bus station for 2.30am), I changed some money and got a further bus down to Cesky Krumlov, which is close to the Austrian border.
Stayed 4 nights here as I felt like I needed a holiday from my holiday.  CK is a very small medieval town on the Vltava river that is, by day, bombarded by tourist tour groups and quiet by night.  My hostel was south of the town out of the touristy area on the river so perfect for some R&R.  What i didn't count on was meeting a bunch of crazy Aussies who liked to pain the town not only red but white and blue also!  We had a couple of crazy nights, one of which involved a dress up or costume night so suffice to say there were some good pics and a lot of grumbling locals - loud australians and small European towns don't mix.

There is actually quite a lot to do here if you want to spend the time.  I did a tour of a beautiful late Viennese baroque (1760s) theatre (everything original and beautifully restored) and state rooms at the castle (masquerade hall is stunning.  Took 6 months to paint in 1748 with scenes from masquerade ball; jesters, pierot, knaves, gentry etc.), saw National Geographic photography exhibition (now there's some inspiration) and looked around the Egon Schiele Art Centre (very out there kind of art with exhibition by Keith Haring touches on very sensitive topics such as AIDS).
One day I spent the morning at the Regional Museum before going horseriding in the avo.  The mares had foaled some 10 days before so there were 2 cute spindley, soft and very cute foals to coo at!
My last day I went for a big hike on the local 'green' trail up to Klet Mountain (1100m) - 2 hours from hostel to summit.  Great panoramic views of countryside then 1 1/2 hours to Holubov small village then further 3km along a river to the ruins of Divci Kamen castle.  It was an easy 20min train ride from Trisov back to town where i had a well deserved soak in the bath!!!
So, I was very chilled and relaxed and ready for Prague.
