Hello people, update time. Since my last update I stopped off in a couple of towns, first a City/town called Surfers paradise which was a bit dull to tell the truth, hard the atmosphere of a Mediterranean party island but with sky scrappers.

My next stop was Byron Bay which is a small town for people to relax in, there were some good drunken nights here but nothing of too different about it.

After Byron Bay we stopped of for one of my highlights of Australia, surf camp. I thought surfing would be fun but had no idea how good it would be. The waves were massive, pure power, some how I managed semi to catch my first getting onto one foot and Knee. We were out for a couple of hours which totally destroys your throat and is a great workout. If I lived here then my first job would be to buy a board.

The next stop was Sydney which is where I've been for over 2 weeks now. I'm staying a friends who I used to live with in Leicester. He has a great sofa, rent is better than cheap, access to kitchen, I've become very settled here, a bit to settled.

Its been great to stay so long in one spot and get into a slightly normal Australian life via my friends social network (real life not facebook). Manly which is the town in Sydney he lives in is a very nice, bit posh but nice posh, area. It has also helped me to realise that I was wrong about Australian food, Australian food > British Food. In fact I think I have had the best food in a western country. They have amazing Thai and Japanese food, there is a local thai takeaway/restaurant where you can get amazing meals for about 5, I must have eaten there 10 times so far. The Australians can also do great great pies. which are available everywhere. I stumbled across the best supermarket I've ever seen here as well, amazing quality and selection of so much, the pound being worth less than nothing means that everything is expensive so you just have to get over it.

I also discovered that the best place to watch election is the other side of the world, it was a day on the sofa with BBC streaming the coverage straight to the computer.

One of my reasons to stay here so long is I have been doing a lot of work remotely and here is the best place in the southern hemisphere I can find to do it. I've done the vast bulk of the work (I think?) so have no excuses to move on soon, Probably to New Zeland. After my working holiday delay here its clear I'm not going to make it to all the places I had planned, plus the problems in Thailand means I think I may go straight to Vietnam leaving malaysia, Burma, and potentially Laos/Cambodia to another trip.

See you in New Zeland.
