One of my favourite places on this trip so far! The White Temple - Wat Rong Khun.

This day trip we booked from Chiang Mai included a visit to the Golden Triangle at the Border of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos as well. When we got to our temple however and were told we had 30 minutes, we were up in arms.

30 minutes! 30 minutes? Have you seen this place? One must be crazy to rush through it in such a short period of time. So we waste our 30 minutes talking our guide Eddy, who we are convinced must be a ladyboy in his evenings, into letting us stay while the rest of the mini bus moves on and to pick us up on the way back. This temple is the brainchild and work of Chaloemchai Khositphiphat, the Thai version of Antonio Gaudi (my boyfriend from Spain, remember?!). It has references of Star Wars in it and Spiderman and Neo from The Matrix and Superman and I wouldn't be surprised if I missed My Little Pony in the interior paintings. Now, I'm not a comic or super hero kind of gal, but holy Jedi, I can't get over how much this temple rocks! And 30 minutes turned into more than 6 hours if I recall correctly.
With that, there is no more to be said (aren't you happy for a short entry with no rambling for a change?!). I hope you'll enjoy the pictures and get a sense for how beautiful this place is.
