We have left Italy behind. Aughhh... And have now stopped in Marseille, France. It is quite difficult to change languages so abruptly. I was getting used to "gratzi" but have moved on to "merci." Although "gratzi" still comes out more often than not. France looks a lot like the ports in Italy, but again, the language gives it away. I have been a little burned out on the tours, so decided to walk around Marseille on my own. Much like the other ports, there were little markets with pastries and French soap. The town was wrapped around a small pier. I had 3 cookies for breakfast from this little man at the market. I also meandered along the streets and found my up to the Notre Dame church way up above the city. I tried to recruit a few people from the ship to make the trek, however one reply was "that will take half a day." Nope, only 30 min, and this was a solo trip. On the way back to town I found a crape café. I wasn't leaving France without a crape. It was slipping out of my hands with its contents much like a landslide. Yum! Not far from the pier was another pastry shop. There was a meringue the size of a small football. I bought it with the sales gal reply "just one?" Yes, just one and I ate every morsel. Glad to know people eat more than just one. I feel like I pretty much ate my way through France.
