It's 2:50pm, Monday afternoon, and I feel like I'm on holidays.

We had a great sleep last night. Not too hot, not too cool, which was surprising given the clear skies and our precarious perch on a mountain side.

When the day began it began full tilt: baby to feed, boy to entertain, individual ablutions to accommodate, and breakfast for all in a 4*10 living space. But it was painless.

I did have to forgo my own shower and change of clothes until noon but, hey, who's going to judge? My underwear needed a good 30 hours to break in anyway.

We had a nice swim and boot into town to collect provisions. Tonight's plan is a dinner out and then some chill time.

The campground/resort is actually quite nice. My stress level yesterday clouded my first impressions. There's a little pool, hot tubs, an ancient playground, paddle boats, etc. There's free wi-fi but it only works when you're near the main store.

Most importantly the showers and toilets are clean and don't smell like a not-so-subtle blend of limburger and raw meat.

Considering it's scraped out of a mountain side, it adequately meets and/or exceeds most requirements.

I've made the necessary shift in headspace and have accepted that no matter hard you try - or perhaps because of that effort - your tent trailer will never be as organized or homey as you'd like. Stuff is necessarily everywhere and has to be moved on top of other stuff to get to yet more stuff. I used to be really A-type. Teaching has thankfully cured me of that!

Other incidental stuff: Penny is rolling now, back to stomach and over to the side again. She's been the best behaved of the bunch of us. So so cute.

Henry is being a trooper. He has so much energy and few "safe" outlets for it. He's got a fair bit of eczema just now but we've hopefully got it on the run. Doesn't slow him down anyway and he's not in discomfort.

He made space at the lunch table for Kokum, Nana, Grandpa and puppy (?). Sweet kid.

As for Mel, odd as it sounds, I wish I could grow breasts and give her a night off from feeding Penny. She eyes my beer with a predacious glare and her inner Barney Gumble longs to be released. I miss my beer buddy.

Well, we made the decision to check out the beaches, downtown Coeur d'Alene. Their reputation preceded them and they certainly didn't disappoint.

The city itself reminds me of Kelowna in terms of climate, infrastructure, denizens and general complexion. There's some significant money on the waterfront - some of the estates are dripping cash.

If you're sixteen, I'd imagine that this place is paradise to grow-up in. Lots of recreational variety and the people to show you how. If you're any older, you better have some expendable income or a tenacious hold on a dying dream.

Penny had her first swim/dunk in the lake and she took it like a champ. Henry woke up from a late nap (because he mucked about during his designated one) and had the most obscene meltdown we've seen to date. Right there on the beach.

We also took it like champs and I had some "quiet time" with him in the car.

When all the dust and tears had settled we went to the 'Mexican Food Factory' and ordered chicken enchilada combos and a big plate of nachos. Gut busting and awesome. Highly recommend it.

Henry recovered his spirits only to fall backwards off the picnic table seating. He was fine, he's a tough kid.

For all the disruption to his routine, he's been great. As Mel remarked, he's like us: full belly and well-rested and he's good to go.

Tomorrow we're off to Pendleton, Oregon!
