After the disappointment of the world cup, but a good night out with Victor, we got an overnight train to Xi'an Sunday night. it was meant to take 12 hours but because of heavy rainfall there were some mudslides next to the track and we were delayed 8 hours. Kinda spoiled our plans as we were meant to arrive about 7 or 8 am and we though we would be able to go to the terracotta warriors on the monday then look round Xi'an the next day. As we didnt get to the hostel til about 4pm we decided to stay there an extra night (which meant buying a couple extra bits of clothes as we left our big bags in beijing and only taken enough stuff for a couple of days) but it worked out pretty well.

Got the bus along to the terracotta warriors on tuesday, the place was amazing!! the scale of the figures was amazing. pretty hard to describe really, and the pictures probably dont do it justice along the walls
along the walls
! wandered round xi'an on the night and then had a couple drinks and played pool at the hostel. on the wednesday we hired bikes and cycled around the city wall, took about 2 hours and was absolutely red hot! think we all caught the sun, but it was pretty good. went round the muslim quarter, to the great mosque, and ate some really cheap random street food, its so good!!

got the train back to beijing wednesday night, had a soft sleeper this time as opposed to the hard sleeper on the way there and it was total luxury!! free slippers, personal tv (although it was all in chinese) air con in the cabins and everything!! brainstormed some ideas for a programme we have come up with, but not gonna let you in on that secret cos some of you media types might nick it its that good!!
