What a great way to wake up - with views over a nice beach, the sea and Table Mountain.  Perfect with the sun shining, or should I say beating, down.  It was then time to formulate plans for the day, and after much debating (there really is heaps to do in CT) we decided to head out for some brunch mainly for Paul's benefit, then head on to Table Mountain, finishing off with the penguins at Boulder's beach.
So off we headed, and I started to see some of the problems in SA.  We reached a set of traffic lights (they call them 'robots'!!!) and some guy was just walking between the waiting cars, with a sign saying 'NO FINGERS, PLEASE HELP'.  Apparently is is now quite common for beggars to approach you as you are waiting at the lights.
Anyways, we headed towards Clifton for some nice brunch with sea views, only to be greeted by a sand blast- it was windy as!!!  Table Mountain was out, there were no cable cars braving the wind, dammit Close encounters of the penguin kind

.  Plans were changed, so we opted for a scenic drive to the penguins, which was a great plan, the views really were stunning.
Annoyingly, the wind was still blowing a gale at the penguin beach, but the little blighters were everywhere!  They really don't seem to mind all the attention - you aren't allowed to touch them, obviously, but they are quite happy to swim or sit really close to you.  Got some great shots of the funny little creatures, have a squiz on the photo album.
When time was up and we headed back to the apartment I made the mishap of falling asleep in the sun, whoops!!  It was gone 4pm, but man the sun is sooooooooo strong and surprise surprise I got some burnage, argh.  Luckily I could cool off in the roof top swimming pool (how plush eh!!!), and then it was time for some scran down at the V & A waterfront - very nice it was too.  Great seeing Table Mountain lit up in the dark, and we got a treat of seeing the comet over it, marvellous eh.  So the first full day had been just perfect really!!
