Woo hoo, I've finally left Paihia!!!! Don't get me wrong, the place is lovely but I'd just had enough of it and without a job and stacks of money I was starting to run out of things to do, as you can imagine (there's only so much time you can spend sunning yourself on the beach before it starts to get boring you know!!!) Plus I had really itchy feet (quite literally actually - read on and it will become clear) to go and explore the rest of this wonderful country. The job in the hostel was starting to become mind-numbing; worse than usual for a crappy job. Basically all I was doing was getting the sheets from the beds, putting them into the washing machine, then hanging them out on the line then folding them when they were dry and then putting them away.... Yes, really!!! The hostel owner kept telling me that I was hanging the sheets out wrong, he was completely anal about it, I just thought oh p!ss off - as long as the sheets dry, what's the problem?! If you want to see what the hostel was there's a website - I think.

So here I am back in Auckland... Just gonna do a spot of shopping before I head off to some serious grafting in the form of fruit picking- in Hastings. I've sorted myself a job picking apples on an orchard just outside Hastings, working 6 days a week, 8am - 5pm - arghhhh!! I'm sure it'll be ok, and as I'll be working so much there will be little chance to spend any money (I hope..)
I may stop off in a couple of places along the way, but not decided anything for defo just yet, it's really good not having a proper plan, I'm so laid back and relaxed about it all, you wouldn't recognise me!! Well maybe not quite, although I do have a bit of a tan.
Oh yeah -the itchy feet thing.... I was abso-bloody-lutely savaged by mozzies / sand flies in the last couple of days I spent in Paihia. I have many bites in a multitude of places including: arm, shin, ankle, foot, sole of feet, toes, knees, back of legs, top of thigh, forehead (of all places!!).. So as you can imagine I'm just a ball of itchiness at the mo, with the soles of my feet being the worse, as all I do is aggravate the bites by walking.. Speaking of which, I was doing loads of barefoot walking in Paihia, my feet look disgusting now. Sorry about that, just helping you build up a picture...
I was with 4 other people that I had met on the plane in Paihia, which was really nice, got on with them really well. But I had had enough of Paihia and they were happy to stay so now I'm going it on my own for a few days.
