A popular thing to do when in Bled is to take a walk to the Vintgar gorge, which is about 3km north of the town. Friday turned out to be a little cloudy, so it was perfect weather for the walk. The walk up was fab, really peaceful and it took me past some pretty Slovenian houses, which looked like the stereotypical Alpine homes, all wood and flowers hanging over balconies. The walk took a little under an hour, by which time the sun had made an appearance, which would be perfect for highlighting the gorge. The gorge itself was amazing, and I didn't begrudge paying the €3 to get in. I took a ridiculous amount of pictures, and mainly walked around with an inane look on my face, just enjoying the natural beauty of the place.
I managed to time it perfectly when I headed off and avoided the midday sun. I've actually been really good so far with staying out of the sun, no burnage at all, thank you.
I spent the rest of the afternoon back at the lake, chilling with an ice-cream, and even saw a wedding party coming back from the little church on the island in a gondola. Naturally I assumed they were Slovenian, especially because the bride's dress was hideous, but they were actually English. God only knows what they must have paid to get married there, but good on them for choosing such an awesome venue.
