After rather a long and much needed lie-in, I headed out, the castle (or Grad as they call them in Slovenia) was on the cards today. I took a meander through some little side streets on the way, they were lovely and quaint. Ljubljana has a very relaxed feel about it, which I really like, and although it is not a huge place and doesn't have all the 'attractions' of other cities, it is probably my favourite place that I've been to so far.
Anyway, back to the castle.... the girls in the hostel said it was a fairly steep climb to get up there, so I took the lazy option and went on the funicular, which was quite cheap at only €2... I did feel a bit lazy in amongst all the old folk, but what the heck.... It's actually free to get into the castle and its grounds, although there isn't much too see; a few exhibitions and a cafe, not much else besides though. However, the big selling point are the views over the city and on a clear day you can actually see over a third of Slovenia, well that is if you pay the €3.30 to get up the tower, which is definately worth it. The castle grounds were so sedate, so it was a great place to relax a while and soak up the views.
