Cartagena is the perfect blend between the Caribbean and the Spanish culture. I was glad this was the 1st place I was able to see in Colombia, and a must visit. The history is present and is pleasantly preserved. On the other end there is a unique blend of a modern life splendidly built around the history. On the weekends you get to see the salsa dancing spill into the street as the energy keeps the city awake. I spent 5 days here and every night was blessed by a blood orange sunset. A great place to witness this would be at the Cafe Del Mar atop the old Spanish Wall, unobstructed by none
I made lots of friends here and believe that the most satisfying thing about this city was the view and the best thing to do is to simply walk within the walls of the Old City as it hustles and bustles in its own beauty. The people are great and the tourism is untapped by the rest of the world. I hardly run into Americans around here, but I enjoy that. It is sad what we don't know and what we assume. Cartagena Lives!
