In Bohol I took a tricycle, then jeepney and finally a locally bus to reach my destination, the Nut Huts outside the village of Lobos. I've never been in a bus so full - but I should consider myself lucky to be able to squeeze inside the bus (standing next to a loudspeaker blaring out 80's classics such as "Girls just wanna have fun"), as all the other passengers getting on
were whisked to the top
The huts are by the river a few miles up from the village, surrounded by a thick jungle in an absolutely fantastic location. After the sunset the whole jungle seemed to come alive, there were just sooo many different sounds and some very loud ones too, I tried not to think too much about what kind of beasts and monsters they were coming from. Fortunately I didn't get any creepy crawlies in my room - phew!
At dinner I met an English guy, Will, at the huts who was also travelling solo and we decided to go see tarsiers (tiny alien-lookalike monkeys) following day, then trek through the jungle to a nearby cave. See the pictures, tarsiers are just the cutest thing you'll have ever seen! I also went to see the island's famous "Chocolate Hills", sort of rock formations that give the landscape a sort of fairytale look - very pretty.
