Today was a GOOD day! Besides the fact that it was my birthday, I FINALLY had a day without rain – go figure – the chances were 50% - almost a given – but I got not a drop!  YEAH.  I started off early heading to the Marietta Confederate Cemetery.  Very interesting.  Took lots of pics.  Lots of history there.  Then, for 'tourist time' – I took a pic of the giant CHICKEN at KFC.  Then it was off to Cleveland – for my next ‘touristy’ stop – Babyland General Hospital (where cabbage patch kids are ‘born’).  They have moved into a new, GIANT mansion.  Expansion seems to have suited them – they were swamped.  This time thru, I bought a doll (since we would share a birthday).  Of course, I had it SHIPPED HOME.   Then off to Helen, GA – what a neat little town – a German Alpine village tucked away into the hills.  Right on "Helen Hwy" – too funny.  I wandered around and shopped, but the humidity at that temperature was pretty oppressive,  so I didn’t stay as long as I would have liked.  Off to Deals Gap.  At least, while winding thru the wooded area it finally cooled off.  It is almost chilly.  Got checked in (they were still opened) and tucked in for the night.  With the rock slide on 129 about 8 miles up on the Tennessee side , they close the road from 8pm to 8am, so you don’t hear the bikes all night like the last time I was here.  Got a good nights sleep – tomorrow I want to head up into Tennessee to sightsee.
