Took a trip to Shanghai for a night. I was on my way to Guilin/Yangshuo so I only had a brief stop, in which I took a wander down the famous Bund. On one side of the river it is very modern, almost futuristic, full of oddly shaped buildings, neon lights and light shows, whilst on the other side of the river there is a strong feel of old London - the buildings were similar to those in the Westminster area; being an old-fashionned gal at heart I loved the 'olde' style and all its romantic grandeur. I walked down the main streets on my way to the hostel; it seems to be a very vibrant city. It's a shame I didn't get a chance to see more. Apparently there are lots of art galleries, good shops, bars and restaurants - one day... I stayed in a good hostel, but once again, had some bizarre/unfortunate roommates - one Korean girl who couldn't speak English, one French girl who wouldn't talk full stop and another Korean girl called Honey who came for a walk with me, but the conversation didn't exactly flow due to some language/tone barriers... Still enjoyed myself. Also went on the sightseeing tunnel from one side of the river bank to the other, which boasts some good lighting effects - the photos will explain better...
