Along the way down the East coast we met a lot of people who either loved or hated Surfer's Paradise - I think I lie somewhere in the middle, both words being a bit strong. It's a pretty good beach, got some monstrous waves (one of which washed me up to shore causing yet another travelling wound - this time a big graze / bruise on my thigh), a fun town with some excellent nightlife and a few novelty activities to do during the day including the "Believe it or not" museum - a really fun museum, believe it or not (*groan*) - and "Old Time Photos" where we got dressed up as Saloon girls (corsets, fishnets, feathered hats, JD, and cigarette holders) and had our photos taken (sooo funny). Sadly, I didn't work up enough courage to bungee jump - but I've made a promise to do it before 30, so you can all hold me to that (I bet you're pleased, Mum and Dad!)
We spent quite a lot of time "sunbaking" (as the Ozzies say) on the beach (not to much effect - still white enough to blend in nicely with Whitehaven beach) and being too scared to walk too far into the sea, let alone surf
Had a couple of nights out - both of which involved excessive dancing with various friends and strangers and huge pizza cravings followed by huge pizza pig outs - oh dear! We were living with six Swedish people and next door to eight Swedish people, so our nights out did include a lot of confusion and "Summer of 69" being played on repeat when getting ready (Brian Adams - I do love you and your cheesy ways - but not enough to ever want to listen to your songs a million times in a row!), but they were all very nice. A few of them left after our first night and so we made some friends with this English guy (perfectly nice... but a bit creepy - not sure why?) and a girl called Maurite - played "Ring of Fire" with them which got messy as always and headed into town for Valentines. Again lots of dancing like crazy people ensued...

. The museum was really brilliant - had things like the tallest man (well a model of), gurners, art on rice grains, crazy tombstone messages, stories of werewolves, human stunts (knife swallowing and lovely things like that) and feats, shark survival stories, a revolving room, mermaids (well half monkeys and half fish sewn together by crazy con-artists in Fiji) and genuine shrunken heads (still disturbed by this!) Discovered I am 1 in a 100 (or something like that) for being able to roll my tongue - and 1 in a 1000 for being able to fold my tongue - woo hoo, a skill at last! Our photo shoot was also great - had a few glasses of goon in us (we've been converted into goon fans!) so we didn't feel so embarrassed when asked to lean back on the bar / put our legs up on the piano and strike a sultry pose!! Have 4 photos bought between us, so if you're lucky (or if we've had some more goon) we might show you them one day!Had a couple of nights out - both of which involved excessive dancing with various friends and strangers and huge pizza cravings followed by huge pizza pig outs - oh dear!
