Brisbane - great for shopping, galleries and partying...

There's a fabulous lagoon and man-made beach near the river which is great fun - sitting in the "sea" with a skyline in front of you is pretty surreal. The "cultural centre" has some great galleries and theatres. In the art gallery we went to we enjoyed regressing back to childhood in the "sticker room" - yup you guessed it, a room covered in stickers and free sticker sheets for you to add to it. Amazing how many grown adults were sat there mesmerised by their little pieces of sticker art! Other exhibits included a huge cardboard town created by a lot of children, a writing room where you write letters to loved ones in calm surroundings and they apparently get sent for you or burnt depending on your request, a lego sky line and many paintings - some a bit boring, some amazing...

Our hostel was fun - made quite a few friends (our dredded hippy friend Ed, James, Dave, Tamara and co) and enjoyed a night of drinking prohibited goon in the dorms and playing some "old school" games ("I have never...", "truth or dare" etc...) Ventured out into the Valley on one night - not too bad, although don't think we chose the best night (a Wednesday - if any of you are planning on going there, aim for the weekend) and into the city on another night where we partied alongside a load of students who made us feel old!

Final piece of news from Brisbane is that we went to see Dirty Dancing on stage. It was amazing - well, the dancing was amazing and of course, the story is flawless, but the acting was a bit dodgy as were the extra scenes and songs (the original is good enough - why do anything to it??) - but generally amazing!! Was so good to see it acted out - I nearly cried when Johnny said "Nobody puts Baby in the corner" - lots of whoops from the audience (99% girls, 1% wincing boyfriends) - sad but true! So that's it for Brisbane...
