Bought my backpack yesterday. I am now the proud owner of a Berghaus
Jalan 55+15. Which seems to be the backpack of choice for a lot of
rtw-ers. I think that I will have to personalise it a bit so that I
know that I am getting the right one back again on the luggage
carousel. I bought it from Nomads in Manchester and I would thoroughly
recommend them - they are knowledgeable and helpful and all seem to have
been on exciting travels and are more than willing to share tip and
stories.
The weird thing is that buying the backpack is the thing that has made
me realise that I am really going. Buying the tickets should have given
me a bit of a clue, but having something sitting in the corner of the
room looking at me, challenging me, saying "you'll never fit a year's
worth of stuff into me" has rather brought it home. It is getting a bit
frightening but then more that I think about it, I know that this is
the best thing to do now.
