Cork. Ahhh. You did look beautiful in the dripping sunshine but unfortunately we only stopped off long enough to visit Mercy Hospital to launch an invesitgation into Helen's sore head. Everyone was so kind - including the canteen lady who served us up a lovely white-bread and ham sandwich to make the queue go down more smoothly.
Everyone, that is, apart from the doctor from the Bowels of Hell School of Medicine.

Doctor: so what's the matter?

Helen (lifting plaster on head revealing unsightly boil): I think I've been bitten.

Doctor: Were you in a fight?

Helen (surprised and confused): No, I was in a sleeping bag...

Doctor: Is it a human bite?

Helen (starting to think she is in twilight zone): Er, no, an insect bite which you will observe has caused the right eye to swell

And so it went on, with Helen providing the city idiot with a rough guide to tropical medicine (just back from Indonesia) and advising him on the prescription.

Reeling from an unexpected insight into local medical practice, we raced through Cork (via the pharmacy) to get to the ferry and to catch our seat in the sun as the Titanic-esque ferry prepared to head out for the high seas ( well for Roscoff, France).
