I guess it was going to be difficult for the next place to live up to where we had just come from but we really were`nt pushed on this place.  It was OK though.  The first day we did a horse-back tour along the "beach" and went up to visit the petroglyphs, for which Ometepe is famed.  Then in depression we started drinking rum--doubles thank you very much Mr hostel man....then we ended up playing drinking games which involved buying a bottle of rum when Mr hostel was going to bed and then swimming....Of course we were not fit for trekking the next morning so we hung out at the watering hole.  I think that it might have been more us then Ometepe!  Anyway, it is very impressive in the sense that it is one island formed by 2 volcanoes that are connected by an isthmus which was created from eruptions, the last of which was in 1957.
