Tuesday 3/18/2008 was an early wake up day. We walked from the hotel to Avis Car Rental, and got there too early of course. We decided to go to the co-op next door to get our lunch for later on down the road. We then got the car, and luckily were able to get a GPS, because today was going to be an adventure! The car was a Fiat, and the Tomtom only spoke German, even though we switched the speaker to be an American. Luckily I know a bit of German, because we were off through the Alps. Our first leg of the trip was Chamesol, which is where my family has roots. Oh looky a sign!

We found it to be a very small town, with one church, Chamesol Church

and mostly homes, maybe about 30 homes at the most. And a restaurant, which was closed when we finally arrived. The cemetery had a lot of Tournoux's, and even a family tomb. This was a very neat find, especially with such a strange last name. We got back in the car, and made our way to La Cheax de Fondes, which is where Geoff's great grandmother Juju is from. Geoff did figure out that if he switched the Tomtom lady to speak British English, we could understand her perfectly!
