Moday 3/17/2008 was our last breakfast at Hotel Laimer Hof. We checked out and we on our way to Bern. First, we stopped into the grocery store to pick up some supplies for our ride, knowing that lunch would be on the train. We walked through the rain to the train station, same as we did upon arrival! Once there, we figured out our ticket situation, and decided to get coffee while we waited. Once we got on the train, we found our seats next to a very nice German woman. We had a long ride to Zurich, and once we passed into Switzerland, border agents came on the train, but only asked to see passports from the Asian looking passengers. So, no passport stamp for us. We must have looked like a sweet innocent German family, wrah ha ha..... We then switched trains in Zurich to Bern, and when we arrived in Bern we found more rain. Those darned umbrellas really got their money's worth! The train station was across the street from our hotel, Hotel City am Bahnhof.
View of Bern from hotel room
The room was nice, very modern furnishings with a great view of the surrounding buildings.

We asked the desk clerk for dinner reservations, and he pointed us to Bärenplatz , across from the city hall building. We found a small restaurant with a very nice waiter to help us out. I had gnocchi, and Geoff had chicken and fries. On the way back to the hotel, we realized that we had gone the long way earlier. We were able to do some window shopping, and found a store with a huge window display with live bunnies running around! They were so cute! I do have some video of that, but it may take a while for me to add the video to this blog. We watched "Pretty Woman" in German while in the hotel until we fell asleep.
