Happy Friday friends!!
It's been a while, I know. I tried a couple of days ago at this little hole-in-the-wall place and it was super expensive, in French, and not working.. so sorry.
Well, Cabarete was fantastic. Feels like a SUPER long time ago that we were all there, but good stuff  The day after surfing, the group went wind surfing. Wow. Incredibly fun.
If you've ever attempted wind surfing, you know the hardest part is trying to get the sail out of the water and get your balancing going.  There are a ton of pictures of me with my butt in the air trying to get that stupid sail out of the water. :0) Pretty funny. But... I did it!! After a couple of biffs (aka- totally crashing), I had it down and was surfing like a pro. I even turned around without falling down... Yay! After that shin-dig, the group went out dancing (nothing too innapropriate.. unless we were Baptist.. ) and had a great time.
We went to bed, then up in the morning, ready for the next adventure.  On the way to Las Terrenas, we went to a couple of fun beaches: one called Playa Grande- we had the entire beach to ourselves. Most of the group slept on the beach (for some, the morning was a rough one.. no reason of course...).  Then, we went to Playa Diamanente where natural springs sprouted out of the sand and created waves going the other way. Super cool.  Then, we went to Laguna Blu which is my most favorite of places so far.  A secluded lagoon- fresh water- a rope swing to swing out on and good times all around. Me and my friend Jaycee both got on the rope swing for added entertainment, I got pantsed.. ridiculous times. The lagoon looked like a scene from the Little Mermaid. So cool.
That evening, we arrived in Las Terrenas- this quaint, cute little town that has French and Italian influences- a really artsy-fartsty town. Me gustolo mucho (I like it a lot).  In Las Terrenas, we horseback rode up this steep trail and saw one of the largest waterfalls in the Caribbean. My horse is named Princesa- pretty appropriate, no? Just kidding... anywhoo.. I had a fun conversation with one of the guides on the way back down while trying to figure out the best way to ride a horse.  Riding a horse is definitely not one of my fortes.  It's fun to finally be conversing in Spanish. Good times.
Haha- right now, the guy using the computer next to me is singing his lungs out to the song that's playing. My kind of guy. Haha
Where was I? Ummm.. okay... That night, we went out to a bar for some dancing and drinks. No worries friends.. I've been completely responsible the whole time here and we're really good at looking out for each other.  Esta bien. My friend Ben has some ridiculous dance moves, as do the rest of the English guys here. Our guide, Zach, is a good dancer too. So we all had tons of fun.
Now, we're in Jarabocua, a mountain town that has less humidity. Yay! Our hotel is so nice and last night, we got to see our CSA friends who are onto the activities we just completed. We sang Karaoke and I'm pretty well known for my I Will Survive little ditty. It's hilarious. Katie, if you're reading this- you'll be proud of me... I also sang Bohemian Rhapsody. YAYA! :0) Today, we went white water rafting down level 3 and 4 rapids which was awesome as well. Our guide, Lenny, made it really fun. We totally beat everybody.  At one point, we jumped into the rapids from a rock super far up- and we also went down the Toilet Bowl as well which sucks you down and then spits you back out.
So, now you're all updated. There's been a couple of injuries- but nothing too bad.
We'll be here in Jarabocua for the next couple of days. Tomorrow, we're repelling down a 115 ft. waterfall and basically looking like pros.
We've all become really close as a group and we're starting to talk about how hard it will be to leave. <tears> Sad day. But, I'm excited to see you all though.
Loving you, missing you, smiling at you from the Dominican Republic.
Abrazos para todos. Y para cada persona, una beso grande!!
Amor,
Heidi
