27 Charcos!!
Entry 6 of 11 | show all | print this entry |
Hello again everyone!! We are here yet again in Sosua..the Wednesday and Sunday ritual... and life is good. This morning we went to church at Ascension village and had a service in Creole and Spanish again. Ana, a little girl from the village, taught me a song that the sing in the church, so I was able to sing a long today! Good times. Then I spent some time in a girl's house meeting her family. Great people. Yesterday was a crazy fabulous day. We went to 27 Charcos.. 27 waterfalls.. and had a great time. We climbed, slid, jumped, walked, swam over and under all these waterfalls. The highest one we jumped off of was 40 feet tall. CRAZY!! I only have minor bruises but I can't say the same for all my friends... Jaycee.. one of my very funny great friends... smacked her booty really badly and has narly bruises already. Yikes! But don't worry... we were wearing helmets and life jackets. And I'm so glad I bought the Keens... lifesavers for my feet! After we got back after the little trip, I had the worst sinus headache ever, but I feel better today... Oh, and a couple of days ago at our work site, there was the first huge Caribbean I have had the please of experiencing. It was incredible! Warm, wonderful, and finally cool. We found a huge frog inside the cinder blocks we were moving, and it let us touch it. Fun times. So, we're on our second week at Crossroads starting tomorrow. We'll be working in the morning at Nazaret and then going to Ascension to shop at their Fair Trade Co. store. The money goes directly to the families that live there, so it's a great place to leave money. Jerry, I found a great way to spend the money you donated. There's ladies in the village that sell candy to us grinos and when the groups leave for the summer, they have no income. So that money will tide them over a little bit. I'll be supporting them throughout the winter too, so if anybody would like to join me, feel free... I'll tell you more about it when I get back. And Mohleman's, I bought a parachute and bean bags from US Toy Co. with the certificate you gave me, and the kids love it at Nazaret... HUGE smiles. I'll show you those pictures when I get back as well. Love you all, hope everyone is BIEN! Amorte, Heidi Marie
