Llamas, llamas everywhere! At the ranch up the mountainside, we met a herd of llamas and alpacas. We spent the morning feeding llamas, brushing their woolly coats, and saddling them so they could carry our heavy sacks. Eve's llama was a woolly llama named Casanova. Daniel's llama with an attitude was Prinze. Jim and I shared a nice black llama named Mozart (he must be from Austria). With the llamas all ready for the trek we lead them off the ranch and down the street. Through town it seems that not everyday people see llamas so we are quite an attraction. The llamas are very nice and well-behaved so they are like big dogs that can carry your stuff.

The walk through town takes us to the area near the Sigmund Thun Gorge and back through the woods up to Klammsee (the lake we visited yesterday). We have a lot of fun with the llamas. They like to be stroked and sometimes scratch their faces on our shoulders. Daniel's llama is the only llama with an attitude; Daniel has to reprimand his llama and talk sweetly to it so it will stay in line.

At the lake, we unload the llamas and take our sacks to a nice shady bench to enjoy our picnic lunch by the lake while the llamas hang out by the fence and eat grass. The kids also get to do some panning for gold in the lake after eating their lunch. They find little colored rocks and nuggets of gold rocks. The llamas are ready to trek back to the ranch so we head off back through the mountainside and town to the ranch. The kids help unsaddle the llamas and give them some special treats.

After our llama trekking we head off to meet our pilots for paragliding down from the mountain Scmittenhohe from Zell am See. We finally meet up with our pilots at the summit of Scmittenhohe at 10 minutes before 5pm. The final cable car to take Jim and I down the mountain departs at 5pm so we must not miss it or else we have hours to walk down the mountain! So unfortunately we have only time to see Eve and Daniel suit up for the paragliding and run to the cable car. They are left on the mountain summit with Adler and Tom, the pilots. While we are in the cable car, the kids run off the top of the mountain. Both kids report that it is difficult to run while the wind is pushing the chute back but they both make it off the mountain without trouble thanks to the pilots. Eve described the descent down from the mountain hanging from a paragliding chute as epic. She says that she got to look all over the world at the little houses and mountains and feel like it was all hers. Daniel says that paragliding is amazing! They are both ready to jump again! Jim and I are riding in the slow cable car while Eve and Daniel glide down from the mountain. We catch just a glimpse of one chute during our ride down because of trees lining the way down blocking any other views in the direction of the chutes. We rush to our car and drive as quickly as possible through Zell am See and to our meeting point in Kaprun. Well, we arrive too late to see them in the air or landing...we are bummed but the kids don't care.. they had a wonderful experience floating down in the sky! The pilots promised to drop off a CD with pictures and video they took during the flight. We hope that they do!!

Now that we are all officially super tired (and Eve's shoulders are very sunburnt despite all the sunblock)... we head to the market to get some food for dinner and go home to cook it up, eat and relax before falling asleep.
