We continued south east on a bus journey to the Cameron Highlands, staying in small town called Tanah Rata. High up in the mountains, where temperatures dropped to 20 degrees C (we have been used to a constant 32 degree heat), we froze! We actually had to use our sleeping bags.
The area is famous for its hiking and tea plantations. So for the last few days we have been walking through jungle trails and sipping tea of all kinds, and watching the occasional film back our hostel. The hostel is actually housed in Nissan huts used by the British Army when they were stationed here. It still retains its distinctive structure of simple rooms in which you can almost imagine the soldiers clambering into their uniform at an ungodly hour of the morning. After enough walking and tea drinking to last us a good while, we are now proceeding to thenext step of our Malaysia tour: Kuala Lumpur - We leave in the morning.
