We went to see the seals at Cape Foulwind, it was wet and misty and the sea was rough, hard to get clear photo's. We could just make out a lovely sandy beach, a headland which faced out to sea with many rocks sticking up from the sea.
We saw lots of Weka with young chicks and Fur Seals with their young plus Black Backed Gulls with their chicks. It was hard to appreciate the area with the visibility so poor. We went for lunch in Westport.
We then drove to see the Buller River form the north side, a rocky jetty guided us to a lighthouse point. The river was very wide and on the other side was a beach with crashing waves. We drove round to the south side and by this time the mist was clearing and we were able to see more of the beach and river. By the time we got back to our motel the mist had nearly cleared. After a Chilli meal we went for a walk on the beach and were able to see some views not possible earlier in the day.
