After the 45 minutes boat ride from Mabul to Semporna , we kill a couple of hours and took the night bus to Kota Kinanbalu, it was a shame because probably the views were great since the route was fairly much across Sabah, Borneo, one of the oldest rain forest in the world. It was a very clear night and almost full moon so you could see a little bit.
We could have spend some time in this area but Michael and myself we both have our Scuba gear so we are very heavy to be moving around if there is no diving involved, besides my days as Tarzan are long gone......, the orangutans we skipped since people said that you just pay to be on a platform while they feed them and already saw that,
They also have a tall mountain with spectacular views but it takes a lot of hours to hike to the top so I will wait till they put a road.
The hostel was very clean ,share a dorm with people from Uncle Chang so we only spend 18 ringgits per person sharing bath with hot water, only 2 more people on the guest house and we knew them from Mabul so it was like a big family.
The city is very nice and clean, the people very friendly, a lot nicer than their counterparts in KL and also here you have, Hindu, Chinese, Philipino etc, but it seems people are more relaxed.
