After a few days in Prague we went to a small country town called Cesky Krumlov, which has a fairytale castle, medieval townscape and remains much like it did in the 18th century.

Our hostel was very basic and in another life it had been a leprosarium! We were in an 8 bed dormitory which meant we didn't get much sleep, but we made lots of friends. We even met up with a girl whose sister lives in Dongara. There were mainly Australians at our hostel and on the 2nd night we had a wood BBQ and enjoyed the feeling of being a little bit like home. The Barbi was not actually planned, we had asked about lighting the fire (it was very cold) so we could drink outside, but were told the wood was only for BBQ's. So Avan and another guy raced down to the supermarket as it was closing, to get some cheap snags and couple more bottles of red.

Footnote: The Historic Centre of Cesky Krumlov is UNESCO World Heritage listed.
