Sunday 27th
After arriving in Fazely on Thursday we decided to stay till after church today, using the time to do a few bits of maintenance on Charis. We did move up to the junction, opposite Peel's Wharf where we had an excellent mooring - on rings, not under trees, good bankside, large patch of grass which was in shade in the morning, opposite BW facilities and within a short walk of the local shop. The curtains got their annual wash which I don't bother doing till after we have stopped using the solid fuel stove, a little attention was given to some gardening which was outstanding, the back deck got a sanding and a coat of paint, the pole and plank and doormat frame had a coat of varnish and the headlamp had a good clean and was refitted into a better position for use in tunnels. Then we ran out of steam, or rather, we were steaming too much as the temperature rose in the afternoons. We had a lovely catch up with a friend of ours who came over from Rugby to see us on Saturday afternoon and went to St Paul's church in Fazeley this morning for a very lively, noisy and enjoyable celebration of Pentecost in their family service. After making use of the facilities at Peel's Wharf we set off to find a nice spot for the night which we came across just after Hopwas in the middle of open countryside.
