Monday 21st May
We have had a really great time mooring in Alvechurch and seeing our  Brummie family from time to time as well as making several trips by train to London to enable us to get to other places. We met up with Steve and Sue with their two little grand daughters at Warwick Castle, in Coventry we celebrated John Wilson's 70th birthday, in Hastings we celebrated Andrew and Emma Redman's wedding, in Cheshunt we celebrated Nathan's first birthday and in Leicester Square we celebrated our eldest grand daughter Janna's marriage to Jim.  We have witnessed Nathan's first steps, Amy reading to an audience a story she wrote herself and also taking part in the Ugly Duckling ballet. We have had a picnic on the lump lump (allotment) and just yesterday, been with daughter in law Claire at her confirmation.

Now it's time to get on with the rest of our journey north. We plan to go as far north as Skipton and maybe get to Leeds or Liverpool or Manchester or maybe all three. We set off fairly early this morning for us, shortly after breakfast. We stopped off for a couple of hours in Selly Oak to shop and have lunch then carried on into Birmingham city centre, mooring for the night in a little wharf near to Gas Street Basin and opposite the Groundworks offices. It was an easy journey - no locks, and the water level was pretty good.
Tuesday 22nd
Couldn't get this blog posted yesterday as the internet was too slow. That was in the heart of Birmingham, almost next door to the IAC arena. Can you believe it? Today we are on the outskirts of Brum and we now have a fast connection. Managed to down load the photos I wanted to put on yesterday.

We have had a very tiring day today. We have worked 27 locks and travelled just over 7 miles. We have moored at our first real opportunity which is in a little village called Minworth. I hear it has more than one shop. If my feet feel less tired later, I may go and check it out. Bryan was really tired before we stopped. I think he may have been a little dehydrated as he has had a lot of physical exercise and it has been, and still is, a very warm sunny day.
