Flying in I could see the slums that you always hear about and in the distance was the metropolis of the city centre - quite a contrast.
Driving thorough the suburbs heading over the bridge to the city was an eye opener. I recently saw a tv programme about India showing people knocking on car windows when they're stuck in traffic trying to sell you books and asking for money but it was strange to be on the receiving end. Often it's children too which is even worse. I feel bad ignoring people but it seems to be the best way of dealing with it.
I checked into my hotel and soon after met my mate Shelley from my south India tour who is also in Mumbai for a few days
We went for dinner at this great little deli place called Indigo which was recommended in our guidebook. I think it was European fusion whatever the hell that means but was nice to have something more familiar for a change and the desserts were amazing! I haven't had chocolate for a while so I caved in!
Saw some other nice eateries in the area too so going to check them out tomorrow or the day after. It seems like a pretty happening place, very different to anywhere I've seen before in India, I suppose more westernised really. There's definitely a lot of money here.
I also saw a couple of other familiar sights too, pics attached...!
Looking forward to my tour tomorrow especially as Shelley's now going to join me so that'll be fun. I've wanted to come here for such a long time so there's lots to cram in!
