We arrived in Madurai early evening yesterday and walked to our hotel, my shoulders were killing me by the time we got there - my backpack may be comparatively small but it's pretty heavy!

After having a bit of a spruce up we went for a walk around the town, it's pretty hectic here but so far nothing has quite matched Varanasi in levels of craziness! We went to a rooftop bar which had a great view of the town and the sunset made for some good photos.

After that we had a beer in a local bar that looked pretty illegal, there were some Indian men in there who had definitely had a few too many beers! Looked like they were pouring liquor into it too, pretty hardcore.

Had a good meal out, can't remember what it was called but I braved chicken for the first time and so far I'm not suffering so hopefully it'll stay that way! The food is so tasty it's hard not to risk it.

This morning we went to the Sri Meenakshi Temple which is the second largest temple in India and very impressive. It's amazingly colourful which always appeals to me, hopefully my pics turned out ok.

Just had some thali for lunch which was so delicious! People were eating with just their hands, I used a spoon!

This arvo we headed to the Gandhi museum which was really interesting. Back now for a breather from the heat and to pack up again for our overnight train journey to Varkala, a beach and a massage awaits...!
