We wander round numerous hotels and hostels in the manic streets. It is colder in Hanoi, everyone is wearing trousers with coats and jackets whilst we waddle round in shorts and vests. We was given a leaflet for Lux but as they was full some of their staff collected us on moto's and took us to Rainbow Hotel. All on separate moto's, Beth and I arrived first and a few minutes later Charlie came walking next to her moto and rider who'd got a flat tyre. We negotiated the room we needed for $15 with breakfast. I then had to hand wash all my wet clothes and hang them up to dry out.
Walking around trying I find dinner we found a restaurant that was so but it had spilt out onto the street. With a mixture of Vietnamese and western people any place that busy must be good. We got taken to the 2nd floor and it was my first time I ate sat on the floor at a low table. We ordered 5 dishes, 4 with rice and cocktails that were great! Although we wish we got the hot pot, that the Asian table had next to us, it looked amazing!
We headed to the backpackers hostel to look at the castaway booze cruise which involved wake boarding, rock climbing, kite surfing and tubing but with thee weather forecast against us $200 was too much to pay for 3days / 2nights of cloud and rain. We decided we'd get up early the following morning and book one last minute as all the travel agents had now closed.
Put your pack onto the bus last to avoid soggy knickers
On this occasion the restaurant wins but it was like posh street food so it's ok
