The Bumpy curvy trip of about 6.5 hours (with a break for lunch) landed us at our destination at around 3:30pm, it was now time to find accommodations. Unfortunately, because of the Chinese New Year, this would present as a more difficult challenge then expected. All in all, we ended up walking from hostel to hostel, searching for a double room with backpacks on, and sun beating down for about one hour. Finally, we ended up at the Cameronian Inn, which tragically was the establishment that approached us where we were let out of the bus with the offer of a ride and a room, but we had refused them, wishing to first check out other places. It had a pleasant courtyard and clean rooms, and we felt foolish (and tired) from not having gone there first.
Settled, we set out to book ourselves a day tour of the highlands, and to find dinner. Following a bit of confusion finding the tour company we sought (it was above the bus terminal, but we had to go through a walkway and staircase which were "under construction"), but ultimately we had our tour booked and it was time to find food.
Our choice this evening was Indian food. The very inexpensive set meals (7 RM) were both delicious and cosmetically pleasing. The Naan was prepared fresh in the Tandoori oven at the front of the restaurant, and we had the opportunity to see how it was made and cooked.
After enjoying this meal, we gathered together some Gin, tonic and limes to enjoy back at the Guesthouse. Sitting on the balcony, we had the opportunity to chat with the owner of the establishment, a pleasant middle aged Indian man, who was very interested in health matters and insisted on taking my (Andrew) blood pressure. I was deemed very healthy.
