Well, I'm back from Mulanje.  It was a great trip.  It was really difficult climbing the mountain because much of it was pretty much straight up.  We had fantastic views and the weather wasn't too hot.  Ireen had a lot of trouble climbing, but she finally made it and I was very proud of her!  The hut that we stayed in at the top had no electricity or water and we needed to use outhouses and pee into a hole in the ground...nice!  We sat around the fire that the guide and porters made til about 9pm and made Nsima and fish with salt, tomatoes, and onions.  I didn't eat any of it.  I had a peanut butter sandwich that I packed with me.  Ireen and I slept on a very filthy foam mattress on the floor and woke up at 4:40am.  We left to go down at 7:15am and it was really scary.  Much of the time, we were right on the edge of the mountain, so one wrong step and we would be dead (same goes for the way up).  The way down was worse because we were sliding a lot and I seriously thought I was going to die.  I've never been so scared in my life, but we did it and it was a great adventure!

glad you made it
Well, I'm really glad you didn't die over in Africa. I hope you took your camera and got some great shots while you were up there. Still think you could live there for two years if you had to??
love ya, and miss you.
