Anyway, we left for Missoula in good spirits because Jim’s fortune cookie told him that "tomorrow you will find the item you have been searching for" – i.e. his wallet! Which has been missing for several days now and neither of us have any idea where it could be.
Then the highlight of the drive was when a bald eagle flew right over the coach! (Too fast for me to get a picture but close enough that I could tell for sure that it was one.) We arrived at the Missoula KOA about 4:00 PM; here we look forward to a full battery, full clean water tank and empty everything else.
Oh, and did I mention they have a laundry room
and a HOT TUB?!?? :)
After getting settled in we drove downtown, to the whitewater kayak area, to the equestrian center with cross-country jumps (!!!), and finally to the campus of the University of Montana grizzlies, which offers a MSW degree. Overall our impression is that this town at 70,000+ is nice, just too big for us "country mice"; but then again almost any place with a major university probably will be. I suppose other than that Missoula would be a great place -- They even have their own Montana Mule Days tomorrow just south of here; now, how perfect is that?!?
But, the bottom line is that wherever we go Jim and I find ourselves comparing the towns, the views, the houses and everything else to Helena. Neither of us really knew what we were expecting but whatever it was Helena far exceeded it. I know for sure that had there been a school there that I could go to to get the degree I want, it would have been an easy sell and we'd be out scouring the classifieds right about now!
