Day 186 Sat 13th May 2006
Things go pear shaped in pind!

I woke up this morning at 9am when Gagan came over. I hadn't planned to do anything all day except catch up on travelogues, in the end I didn't catch up with any of them and I didn't even do this one on the day (it was actually completed on 13th August 2006)!

After breakfast I played my Dhol for about an hour, it's been a month since the performance at Rangla Punjab and I really needed the practice. The Dhol sounds amazing, I knew it would before I had even finished fixing it up. I will probably end up sending it to Australia if I get some teaching work there. My Thai has gone away for a couple of days, so we are on our own. I made a trip to Nakodar on the bike to pic up the picture I gave them yesterday and get the voltmeter back. The voltmeter was ready but the guy in the photo studio wasn't even there, the shop was open but the guy had left it and gone off to Ludhiana for the day, what a larry! We also paid a visit to the place where my Dad had brought the tiles for Baba Moti's to tell them about the colour difference. They said they would come out and take a look later in the day.

When we got home the guy from the furniture shop came over to sort out the new cupboard, the two front doors were not lined up properly. The 'boy' tried his best to sort it out, but he failed miserably. He kept asking me every 2 minutes if it was ok now, I got pretty wound up after half an hour of it, so just told him to leave me with some screws and go. I ended up fixing the doors up myself. If you want a job doing properly....

The people from the tile shop came over in the afternoon to have a look at the tiles, according to them, there difference in the colour was not TOO MUCH and pretty normal really. But they agreed to take the remaining tiles and give us replacements in one shade to use on the remaining wall. He asked us to come up to the shop and pick out the tiles that looked the same shade, so later in the afternoon, when Ismael eventually turned up (he as supposed to come yesterday) we went over the shop to pick out the tiles, we couldn't tell if the shades were all the same so the guy said he would order a new batch from the suppliers. I'll be glad when it's all over and done.

After a testing day of running around trying to sort things out, the Satalite TV guy turned up to see what was wrong with our dish reciever, it's been playing up for a couple of weeks now, I originally called him when I went to Basti two weeks ago to come and sort it out, and after numerous other calls, he turns up today!!! I had been ringing him all day and by the time he got here, I was pretty fed up. At least he sorted it out, he had to change the receiver in the end.

Because Thai wasn't here we went over to Gagan's for dinner, it was nice we just sat out in their Verrah (court yard) and had Roti. It took me back a few years to when we were kids, our Verrah is where we all used to chill back in the day.

A quick not on the car situation, Soma has decided now that he doesn't want a Gypsy after all, he say's he want to buy a Zen (small hatchback), good luck to the guy! As long as he doesn't ask me to come shopping with him again. I've only been back in Pind a couple of days and I'm already fed up, I feel like I really need to get out of here now. Still, the road trip should be good fun, and it should happen in a couple of days...
