Day 185 Fri 12th May 2006
The attempt at a car purchase!

I was up at 5.30am this morning because the fan in my room had stopped working. When I looked into it, the inverter had stopped working and the battery was dead, so the everything connected to inverter stopped working too, that includes all the fans in the house, GREAT! There was no way I could have got back to sleep in that much heat so I just went out and started working on the bike. Although I had fixed it enough to get us home last night, there was still a problem with it. After some in-depth investigations, I found that there was a fault in the ignition barrel. I fixed it up best I could and tidied up the rest of the wiring, then I took it up to Nakodar for a test drive and it was working fine. While I was up there I went to a photo studio to get a photo of my grandma enlarged. We also had to drop off the volt-meter for the fridge as it had tripped out last night, we must have had an electrical overload that took out the volt-meter and the inverter, the inverter has an inline fuse so I replaced that but the volt-meter needs some professional attention.

When I got back I went over to Baba Moti's to see how the tiling is coming along, they have made good progress in the past couple of weeks, but no-one seemed to have noticed that the tiles had a shade difference in them (see pics). Most of the job is done, they only have one wall left to tile. I called Ismeal and told him to come over so we could sort it all out, but he didn't turn up (surprise surprise). I had a little play on the Dhol I fixed up last night, and just like I said yesterday, I sounds amazing.

At around 11.30am we went to Jalandhar to buy the car, three of us went from Pind, Soma, Kaka (the larry) and me. Kaka was a mechanic back in the days so we took him along to check out the engine. We met up with Sheera in Jalandhar and went to see the car from last night. They all rejected it straight away because it had been re-sprayed, so that was the end of that! We went to see one of the other cars we had seen yesterday and made the guy an offer, it was way bellow the asking price and the guy wasn't having it, so that was the end of that too!

We had a bit to eat and then made our way over to Model Town to check out the sunglasses that had been ordered for me. I was a bit dubious about buying them before I had even seen them thinking they were probably going to be fake. To be honest the shades looked about as original as they can get, and I was about to buy them, then he got the case out...the case wasn't the same one I had before and the shades didn't fit in it very well. I told the guy I would only buy them if he had the right case for them, so he got the 'boy' to go in the back and get some other cases, the 'boy' came out with a box full of cases and they all looked about as fake as you can get!!! That put me right off, so I didn't buy the shades. I was a bit gutted to have come so close but then I would rather spend the money on an original pair, I mean he wanted 7,300RS for them, that about 90.

We left Jalandhar at 4pm and it took two hours to get back to Pind because we had to wait ages for a bus in Nakodar. I was totally dead to the world when we got back and I just crashed out till about 8pm. Gagan came over and he woke me up otherwise I might have slept through till the morning. We had dinner and then he left so I crashed out at 9pm, I'm feeling really tired right now, probably something to do with getting up at 5.30am! I have had my fill of this whole car hunting thing too, I told Soma to do whatever he wants about it.
