Day 158 Sat 15th April 2006
The day of the wedding

Today was the big day for Jag and his family, the wedding of Jags younger brother, Suki. We were all up at around 9am, some needing a bit more persuasion than others to get out of bed (names are being kept secret to protect the guilty!). We got to Jags at around 10.30am and in true Punjabi style they were running late. There was no major panic and we kept our selves entertained with the help of the band (see pic), Anil has found a new calling in life and is thinking of moving to India to pursue a career as a 'Bajewala', I'm sure he will do really well, the outfit really works for him. Anyway, we left the house at some point after 11am and made our way to the 'Palace' (function hall). We met up with everyone else from the group up there and sat down to watch the Bhangra team while the family went to the temple for the wedding ceremony. The happy couple came back from the temple and then the celebrations really got underway. Anil and I played them into the hall and then we performed our routine, we had another great response from the guests.

We had a great day and the family were obviously over the moon. It was nice that so many friends and family were there from the UK to share the families joy. The performance was again quite hard in the heat, but well worth it. I still keep thinking there is no way I could have missed out on all of this.

The party was over by 6pm and we made our way back to Jag's house, but the family had to go over tot he girls house before returning so there was nobody there. Teacher and Teachernee were with us and when they left we made our way back tot he hotel. We freshened up and went out for food. We stayed up till 3am just talking and drinking of course, while I downloaded music onto my Powerbook. All in all a great day. The energy levels are kind of low right now but I'm sure they will be back up by the time the party gets underway tomorrow!
