Day 45 Fri 4th Nov 2005
Seeing the sights in Nakodar.
I rolled out of bed at 11 this morning, I know its getting worse and worse, I really need to snap out of this! I hadn't planned to do anything today but needed to go to Nakodar (our nearest town) to pick up some Mojey for Simran and Daveena, we had already ordered them to size and just had to collect them (yeah right!). We got to the place and the guy was supposed to have made two pairs, one 10 inches long and the other 8 inches long. See that word 'supposed', well you know what's coming next! What the Larry had done was get two pairs that were 10 inches long. He left one pair as it was and cut the back of the other off to make it shorter, it was a proper botch job. When I confronted the guy he would not admit they were both the same size and that just wound me up more. Anyway I had the 10 inch pair off him and went to Nakodar and brought a readymade pair for Daveena from another shop. Not a god start to the day! In the bazaar we saw this little kid busking, he was playing a weird looking violin type thing (see vid), I took a picture of him and he was adamant he wanted a copy, I told him I would give it to him on my return to India, in a month (I wonder if he will still be there). While we were in Nakodar I thought it would be a good chance to see the Tombs that are there from the times of the Mogul rule. I've lost count of the times I have been passed these tombs and just never stopped to take a look. There are two tombs there that date back to 1612 and 1617, they are in a pretty good state considering they have not been restored in anyway. From there we went to a Mundi (Market place for crops) where one of our cousin's is a trader. He took us to a fortress that was nearby and again it was from the time of the Mogul's, its funny how I have been all over India looking at things of historical interest before and never bothered to look closer to home! Anyway, after this we came back home as we were expecting guests from Rurka, yep Khenty and co.
